The whole idea of instant replay on umpires pisses me off. The best part of going to baseball games is when there is a close call, or even better yet the umpire kicks the call, someone comes out screaming, they get kicked out because they made things personal, and then it's off to the races.
To take this away from the game of baseball is communist. It's un-American. I hope Bud Selig has the cajones to tell the media to F-off. He's got the highest rated umpires in all of baseball. However, for those that don't know, baseball is the only sport where there are more officials in the playoff games, than the regular season. Moreover, during the regular season the umpires work in crews and understand each other's nuances. My completely unsolicited proposal is to have 6 umpires a game during the regular season. Let the normal four rotate. Offer minor leaguers a chance to be on a big league field with the foul line jobs. Pay them in peanuts. And by peanuts I mean six figures. This is pip squeaks for major league baseball. Or just pay the players less.
